Athlete Profile: Jamie Langenbrunner
With just a month to go before the Vancouver games begin, we will be profiling a different athlete each day for the next month. Today is United States men’s hockey player Jamie Langenbrunner
Langenbrunner was born July 24th, 1975 in Cloquet, Minnesota. Langenbrunner averaged more than 2 points a game over his first three high school seasons at Cloquet before forgoing his Senior year of high school to play in the Ontario Hockey League.
Langenbrunner played 76 games and had 29 points in his rookie year with the Dallas Stars, and was a Calder candidate. The next year he played in the 1998 Nagano Olympics.
The next year, Langenbrunner won a Stanley Cup with the Dallas Stars. Langenbrunner won another cup in 2005 with the New Jersey Devils.
Langenbrunner is now the captain of the Devils. He has 545 points in 884 games. He is 34th on the all time scoring list for Americans. Langenbrunner has also been a playoff performer. His 12 game winning goals in the playoffs are tied with Phil Esposito and Mark Messier.
